Americans in World War II
Throughout American history, America has been divided along racial and gender lines. However, the way a broad span of different people worked towards a common cause during World War II, modified the division on the home front. Woman worked alongside men in factories, and Black Americans grew to become an immense portion of the United States Military ("African-American Soldiers in World War II Helped Pave Way for Integration of US Military"). Despite vast improvements, discrimination was still a huge part of American society. Black Americans continued to fight for rights in the military and in America for the duration of World War II as well as the years subsequent to it ("American Women in World War II"). Japanese Americans were considered a threat to the United States, and relocated to internment camps. Women, despite proving themselves with their willingness to work diligently during the long years of the war, still did not receive the respect they deserved from men ("World War Two - Japanese Internment Camps in the USA") .
